Nice article about slave quarters that are still existing today. I would like to learn more about the slave quarters that have been turned into nice apartments in Frederick Maryland. They are located about 2nd or 3rd street around Bentz Street.
Peter, are you referring to the slave quarters in Frederick? They are the unusual looking building, looking like it could have been stables. They extend along I think it is 2nd street. The street behind them is maybe 1st street. On that street behind the (stables?) are two big mansions, one said to be where FSK resided when he was in town. The slaves served one or both of the mansions. And now the building is beautifully located apartments.
This is the story I heard, but I don't know where I heard it.
The story made sense to me because the mansions are big enough to have had slaves and slaves often lived in stables.
What about you, how did you get involved in the underground railroad?

Rich,
Please tell more. Where did you hear of this? I'd like to look into it.
